About the Program

The YWCA After School Program provides childcare for individuals ages 5 to 12 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. The YWCA provides safe transportation from most area schools. Participants receive homework assistance from certified teachers, a nutritious snack and participate in enrichment activities such as swimming, musical & dramatic play, Girls Circle and field trips.

The YWCA After School Program is open on teacher workdays, fall & spring breaks and select holidays.
(Free breakfast and snacks are served on those days)

Program Highlights

Homework Assistance- Kids are given homework assistance in each classroom for 30 minutes each day.
Snacks- A nutritious snack and beverage is given every afternoon.
Swimming- Every child is given the opportunity to learn to swim at least twice a week in the YWCA Pool.
Girls Circle- Girls Circle is built on a research-based model proven to increase girls' self-efficacy, body image and social support. YWCA girls in 2nd-6th grade participate in the Girls Circle Program one day a week.
Field Trips- Children participate in off-site activities once a week such as bowling, roller skating, park visits, historical tours, horseback riding and more!
Squirrels Club- This program helps children learn the value of savings at an early age. South State Bank hosts a bank day once a month, at which time children may open an account, or make a deposit to a Youth Savings Account in any amount.
