Summer Swim Team

Summer Season runs mid-May through mid-July with 5-6 meets and championships.

Fall Training

Two sessions to improve endurance, gain skills and have fun. Mini session runs from mid-August to September. Regular session runs from October to February.

Winter Warm Up

Winter Warm Up is a 10-week jump-start to summer swim team. It allows all levels of ability to strengthen stroke technique, starts, turns and race strategy in a fun and positive atmosphere.

We look forward to welcoming new and returning Barracudas that are ready to feed on the competition!

Fall Training 2025

Fall Training swim team provides the opportunity for swimmers to continue to improve their skill set during the swim team off season.

There are two sessions. Mini Session and Regular Session. We also offer a High School preseason the month of October.

Swim Meets are TBD. There will be at least one intersquad meet during the regular session.

No Practice: Raise the bubble (September 22-30), Halloween, Thanksgiving (Nov 26-28), Winter Holiday (Dec 22-26). Some other schedule changes may take place due to High School Swim Meets - TBD.

Fall Training - Mini Session

Tuesdays & Thursdays
August 12-September 18
Ages 8 & Under 3:30 - 4:30 pm
Ages 9 -12 4:30-5:30pm
Ages 13 & Up* 5:30-6:30pm

Who is this for? 6 & unders must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke. All others should be able to complete one length of all four competitive strokes.

What is our goal? In this mini session, new swimmers will be introduced to the YWCA program, coaches and philosophy - FUN and FOCUS! It will still be warm, so stroke technique will be the main focus of this short 6 week session. Returning swimmers will maintain the growth they’ve gained over the summer season.

Who is this for? 6 & unders must be able to swim 1/2 length or 12.5 yards freestyle and backstroke - and swim this distance independently in deep water. All others should be able to complete one length of freestyle and backstroke and have been introduced to breaststroke and butterfly.

What is our goal? For new swimmers introduce them to the YWCA program! For everyone - build on swim strokes, have fun and build endurance.

*Ages 9 up may be invited to join the 5:30 group

Who is this for?
3:30 group/6 & unders must be able to swim 25 yards freestyle and backstroke. 7-8 year olds should be able to complete one length of all four competitive strokes.
4:30 group/9 & up should be able to swim 25 yards of all 4 strokes
5:30 group/11 & up should be able to complete 50 yards of all 4 strokes

What is our goal? This group concentrates on improving stroke technique, starts, turns, building of endurance and stamina, and improving speed.

*Ages 9 up may be invited to join the 5:30 group

Friday nights
October 3, 2025 - January 30, 2026
Ages 8 & Under 5:30-6:30pm $150
Ages 9 & Up 6:30-8:00 pm $175

High School Preseason
Tuesdays & Thursdays
October 3 - 28, 2025
7:30pm-8:30pm
Ages 14 & Up, $75

This is for high school swimmers gearing up for High School tryouts if their team does not have a pre-season program, or for High School age students who want to continue swimming without attending a more formal year-round program. Swimmers should be familiar with all four strokes. Technique will be taught and workouts will be geared to building endurance in preparation for high school workouts.

What is the goal of YWCA Barracudas Swim Team?

The goal of Swim Team is to improve swim knowledge and ability, and to encourage an atmosphere that promotes fun, teamwork and friendship!

Does Swim Team run all year?

YWCA Barracudas have the opportunity to train all year. Fall Training has two sessions that teach endurance and build skills (there are no swim meets in the Fall). Winter Warm Up enables swimmers to keep up with the skills they’ve learned and get a jumpstart to the summer swim meets. It allows all levels of ability to strengthen their stroke technique, starts, turns, muscle strength, endurance and race strategy. The goal of Winter Warm Up is to promote the sport of swimming in a fun, healthy and positive atmosphere. Summer Swim Team is the competitive season with 5-6 swim meets from mid-May through mid-July.

How do I register for Swim Team if I am currently or have been a YWCA Member?
