Week Without Violence

Week Without Violence

Each October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, YWCAs across the United States unite for Week Without Violence, a global movement dedicated to raising awareness, inspiring action, and advancing solutions to end gender-based violence.

This year's theme, Rising Together: Centering Young Voices to End Gender-Based Violence, recognizes the urgent need to elevate the experiences and perspectives of young people. Youth are disproportionately affected by intimate partner violence, sexual assault, grooming, and exploitation, yet their voices are often underrepresented in conversations about prevention, healing, and systemic change.

Through education, advocacy, and community engagement, Week Without Violence calls on all of us to listen, learn, and work together to create safer, more equitable communities where everyone can live free from violence. This year, YWCA Lower Cape Fear will participate October 18, 2026- October 24, 2026 with various activities and partners throughout the week. Advocacy & Racial Justice

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities.

For over 160 years, YWCAs have stood on the frontlines of the most important issues of our time — from voting rights and civil rights to affordable housing, pay equity, violence prevention, and health care reform. This tradition of speaking up and taking action is at the heart of who we are. And here’s the thing: we can’t do it without you. Your voice matters. Together, we can push for the policies and changes that move us closer to a world free from racism, where women are empowered, and where peace, justice, freedom, and dignity belong to everyone.
